Monitoring Wells

Late last week, waterfront residents may have noticed some drilling activity along the railroad tracks and along Bayfront Boulevard. It has been confirmed that the DTSC (the State of California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control) installed monitoring wells to sample and test groundwater.

This isn’t meant to alarm residents, as it is part of the deed restriction on the property, and it is common knowledge that the site was formerly an explosives plant. I think it is important for waterfront residents to be informed about construction activities in the area.

The wells will be destroyed in a few weeks following the testing.
