A drive along Sycamore Avenue leaving the Waterfront looks like this…

The single-greatest asset of the Waterfront — besides the Bay and Point, of course, which are stubbornly separated from us by the railroad — are the wetlands that meander between the developments.

Sycamore Wetlands

One aspect of new urbanism is the idea of people living and working within walking distance. Or even in the same building. Although it took some time, the first floor spaces of the Sycamore live/work units are filling up with potentially useful neighborhood services.

Sycamore Downtown is not too far down the future. Exploratory test pits were conducted recently to evaluate groundwater flow. (The mixed-use complex will offer underground parking, some of which will be below the surrounding groundwater table.)
