Planning Commission Meeting on Monday

There are two public hearings of interest at the Planning Commission meeting on Monday — 7pm at City Hall — dealing with Hill Town and the proposed Thai restaurant.
The first is the City executing an agreement with a company for the development of Hill Town, a company with an existing conflict of interest with a City consultant, a conflict also known as the Lopeman affair. A consultant to the developer, Jim Lopeman, is married to the City consultant overseeing Redevelopment Area 3, which includes Hill Town. You may recall Mr. Lopeman as the person behind the Hill Town table at the last community update meeting, dutifully explaining this poster.
The second deals with the conditional use permit for a Thai restaurant to move-in to the restored historic Civic Arts Building. To do such, the zoning and allowable uses will need to be adjusted from what is currently allowed for the building and the site. A relatively large group of opponents to the measure are expected to attend, however, this “public hearing” was scheduled following a three-day holiday weekend, so kudos to those in-charge of the calendar.
The complete agenda is available on the City’s website.
