Local Walmarts

One of the arguments that Walmart proponents make — and by “proponents,” I mean Walmart executives (and maybe, just maybe, Councilmember Balico) — is that Hercules is underserved by the existing Walmart locations. Well, thanks to Walmart’s own online store locator, here is a handy map of all nearby Walmarts…

It should be noted that two stores (in American Canyon and Fairfield) both require a $4 bridge toll, which does tend to validate Walmart’s argument that Herculeans currently face a mighty burden to shop at Walmart. The store in Martinez is a 15-minute drive, and the recently-opened store at Hilltop is less than ten minutes away.

What do people think of Walmart’s new logo and slogan? It was, “Always Low Prices, Always,” and is now, “Save Money, Live Better.”
