City Council Meeting on Tuesday

— by Jeffrey Wisniewski — 7 September 2008 — Comments Off

After a break for the summer, the City Council will return to the people’s business this Tuesday — 7pm at City Hall — with an expanded agenda. The Council will approve a contract with an engineering firm to observe and test the earthwork construction of Sycamore Downtown, evidence that that project is moving forward.

Eight public hearings are scheduled, but staff is requesting five of them be moved to a future date to make room for the Sala Thai appeal of the Planning Commission’s denial of their conditional use permit for a full-service restaurant in the restored historic Civic Arts Building. It is expected that a large group of residents — on both sides of the issue — will be in attendance.

The City Council — acting as the Redevelopment Agency — will also vote to commence an agreement with the developers of the fast-tracked Hilltown project, and sign a contract with a consultant to evaluate further (and potentially needlessly scrutinize) the parking for the Hercules Bayfront project.

The complete agenda is available on the City’s website.
