City Council Meeting on Tuesday

Another packed agenda is on tap for Tuesday’s City Council meeting, 7pm at City Hall. The lengthy consent calendar includes…
- Merging Sycamore Crossing and the fast-tracked Hilltown into “Redevelopment Area 2″ instead of creating a new “Redevelopment Area 3.” Cost: $147k. (Did I say “fast-tracked”?)
- Signing a contract with architect for Sycamore Crossing. Cost: $50k. By the way, this is the architect (Opticos) that the City ripped on during the Szabo plan affair, and that Council-member Ed Balico maligned as “second-rate.” (Opticos has also served as the City-wide architect for the past several years.)
- Relocating the police department. Cost: $197k.
- Signing a contract with second architect for Sycamore Crossing. Cost: $43k.
- Submitting a grant request to State for restoration of Chelsea Wetlands and related services. Cost: $24k.
There are also six public hearing scheduled, although none of them are consequential (in my opinion).
And the City Council — acting as the Redevelopment Agency — will spend $207.5k to advertise on WestCAT buses (five buses for one year) in an effort to attract people and businesses to the City.
The complete agenda is available on the City’s website.
