School Closures Meeting Tomorrow

WCCUSD will host a school closures meeting tomorrow evening from 6:30 to 9 pm at Hercules High School in either the gym or the cafeteria (depending on the source).
In an apparent attempt to make the school closures process as convoluted as possible, WCCUSD has created High School Attendance Area committees (or HSAA). Each committee is made-up of different numbers of members based on something or another. For example, all five HSAA committees will include five students, but Hercules will have five parents on the committee, El Cerrito 8, and Richmond 12, one for each school. In all, Hercules will host 33 members (out of 279 total), El Cerrito 46, Richmond 58. Those numbers may reflect population or political influence. Each HSAA will include one realtor and one anti-tax person. Two members of the Hercules HSAA will be (or has been) appointed by the Hercules mayor.
