- On tap for tonight’s City Council meeting… “Hercules is primed to pump about $200,000 into the Hercules pool for repairs and maintenance. But a sister facility, the weight room at the community-swim center, may close because the equipment is near the end of its useful life, there is no one to staff it, and the lack of supervision exposes the city to liability.”
- A study shows that on-street parking helps revitalize downtowns… “The paper [a study by the University of Connecticut] suggests that downtowns with on-street parking are more vibrant, safer, more pedestrian-friendly, and use land more efficiently than those without it.”
- The Hercules police department will receive much-needed federal stimulus funds… “Law enforcement agencies in the Bay Area have been allocated $15.2 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama in February. [...] Contra Costa County has been allocated $299,535; Pinole $58,322; Richmond $573,395; and Hercules $23,614.”
