Obama Quietly Jabs Hercules

Without explicitly mentioning Hercules this afternoon, President Barack Obama implicitly did in a jab against using stimulus funds for constructing dog parks…
[President Obama] said he could not promise “that not one single dollar will slip through the cracks,” but he said the administration will build on provisions in the stimulus legislation “to forbid the use of these funds to build things like dog parks.” He added: “I don’t have anything against dog parks. I intend to get a dog. What I do oppose is building them with funds from the Recovery Act, because that is not how we will jump-start job creation, and that is not how we will put our economy on a firmer footing for the future.”
This of course all started with a snide editorial in the Wall Street Journal, which mentioned the City’s inclusion of a series of parks on a ready-to-go list, and was soon passed around the editorial pages across the country (and drew several responses from City officials).
