Bayfront Bridge Underway

If you’ve been down Bayfront Boulevard the past two days, you may have noticed some construction work on the northern side of Refugio Creek. It appears that the contractors are preparing the pad for the installation of the pile foundation for the bridge that will cross the creek and eventually tie Bayfront Boulevard into the extended John Muir Parkway.
UPDATE — This post has been corrected.

According to the City’s Public Works Director Erwin Blancaflor, they are creating a temporary access road so they can gather additional geotechnical data (soil samples) which will be used for the design. Creating the access road will take approximately a week and the design work will take approximately 6 months. Once the design process is complete, then the actual construction can begin.
