Very quietly, the agenda for Tuesday evening’s City Council meeting — 7pm at City Hall — racked up a large sum, all of which will be likely passed (unanimously) in the consent calendar, prefaced by Councilmember Kris Valstad stating that all spending measures have been approved by the finance subcommittee (which is made-up of Valstad and Mayor Joe Eddy McDonald).

Items include…

  • New computers. Cost: $131k.
  • Submit an application for grant funds for the restoration of Chelsea Wetlands.
  • Submit an application for grant funds to hire two new cops for three years.
  • Accept proper transfer of ownership of three parcels in the Waterfront: “the Duck Pond parcel, Frog Pad Park and the landscape/drainage area adjacent to Taraya Street.” (No map was included, but the parcels include — according to APN records — the entire greenbelt swath separating Baywood and Promenade, including the corner from hell, and the property on the north side of Sanderling Drive that makes up the southern creek bank.)
  • Engineering services related to wastewater studies. Cost: $207k.
  • Purchase insurance for the construction of Sycamore Downtown. Cost: $306k.
  • Services related to the construction of Bayfront Bridge. Cost: $130k.
  • Purchase insurance against defects for Sycamore Downtown. Cost: $757k.
  • Professional services related to the EIR for Hercules Bayfront. Cost: $183k.
  • Repair of the pool at the swim center. Cost: $400k.
  • Professional services related to the clean-up of the Corporation Yard (at Willet and Sycamore). Cost: $30k.

The Council will also make appointments to the West Contra Costa Unified School District Bond Oversight Committee.

The complete agenda is available on the City’s website.
