City Finalizes Purchase of Vacant Land On San Pablo Avenue

News of this purchase originally came last month, but it appears it has now been finalized… “The Hercules Redevelopment Agency has bought 6.4 acres of land from South Bay investors for $3.4 million, Cornish & Carey brokers Forrest Gherlone and Mike Zylstra said. The vacant land is at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Victoria Crescent in Hercules, Cornish & Carey reported. Victoria Marketplace Investments LLC, the seller, had at one point planned a food market at the site, the brokers said.”
There has been discussion that the property could be a site for a grocery store, however a Fresh & Easy may be included in Market Town (at New Town Center). Additionally, plans for a smaller grocery store have been discussed for Sycamore Crossing, and the City has recently purchased the Walmart property (which may also be well-suited for a grocery store).
