Fresh & Easy

It appears that Colliers International realty is advertising commercial space for the first phase of New Town Center — Market Town — which is the current location of the park-and-ride transit facility. (I believe construction on the site will not commence for at least two years.)

Market Town

Interestingly, according to the Colliers flyer, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market will be one of the anchor tenants (the green logo is faintly seen at street-level and adorning the faux water tower in the rendering above). The plan — which may be dated since the estimated construction date has changed — shows the store more clearly…

Although Fresh & Easy is a smaller store, this would counter the idea for a supermarket to be located on the land the City recently purchased near Victoria by the Bay, or the oft-mentioned plan for a smaller grocery store at the future Sycamore Crossing (although anything is up in the air for Sycamore Crossing since its build-out is so far in the future). Also perplexing is the commercial listing reporting the available date as “immediate.”

The City’s documents show the Fresh & Easy in the rendering (the same rendering as above, by the architect) but not in plan.

    Fresh and Easy is very close to what Trader Joes is, and will be a nice compliment for Hercules in my opinion.

    @James – I agree. Hercules needs a small grocery.

    From trusty Wikipedia, keywords being “Compton, Bayview-Hunter’s Point, and Oakland.”
    Is that the Hercules demographics?
