A Choice Between Two Farmers Markets

It’s good to support events in our city, including our farmers market on opening day, scheduled for tomorrow…

Hercules Certified Farmers Market
Home Depot Parking Lot
Saturdays 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
(May 2 to October 24, 2009)

But may I suggest a much more favorable waterfront walk, one that doesn’t involve crossing San Pablo at Sycamore. Head south on Railroad Avenue past the Civic Arts Building on your way to the pedestrian bridges of Pinole Creek. Along the way you’ll pass lovely parkland including Railroad Park, Chelsea Wetlands, and finally Fernandez Park. Old Town Pinole greets you with a friendly pedestrian-scaled experience and a farmers market of its own. The Pinole market is year-round and with much of the same vendors. Despite the rains, one of the best walks on the waterfront is unfortunately not to our market, but to the neighboring one in Pinole.

Pinole Farmers Market
Fernandez Ave & Pear Street
Saturdays 9 am – 1 pm
(Year-round; rain or shine)
