Times: West County school district mulls 2010 parcel tax measure

— by Jeffrey Wisniewski — 25 June 2009 — Comments Off

A potential parcel tax… “The [WCCUSD] school board this week approved a $278.7 million spending plan for the 2009-10 school year. It also appointed a committee, including board members Madeline Kronenberg and Antonio Medrano, to explore putting another parcel tax measure before voters, possibly in 2010. [...] Rising health care and retiree benefit costs and massive state debt mean the district continues to operate at a deficit that is expected to get worse. A parcel tax measure, or other possible sources of funding, may help offset both the district’s obligations and effects of the state budget drama.“
