The last City Council / Redevelopment Agency meeting before the summer recess is Tuesday evening — 7pm at City Hall.
- Additional construction costs of new parking facility. Cost: $427k.
- Additional LLAD budgeting for unscheduled repairs. Cost: $25k.
- Veterans’ tribute artwork. Cost: $100k.
- Establishing a Downtown Property and Business Improvement District for Sycamore Downtown. Cost: $21.5k.
- Commence biological studies for New Town Center project. Cost: $120k.
- Geotechnical investigation for Sycamore Crossing. Cost: $49k.
- Engineering work for I-80 ramp relocation. Cost: $850k.
- Additional design work for the recently-rebuked* Palm Avenue automotive repair center. Cost: $152k.
* The staff report states that “the project is currently being reviewed for final approval by the Planning Commission,” however the Planning Commission plainly rejected the plans for the automotive repair center at its last meeting (deferring to a newly-created ad-hoc committee to study the matter further). The City Council could, however, override the Planning Commission’s denial and/or recommendations, as it has in the past (see missing live-works along Tsushima Street as a prime example).
The complete agenda is available on the City’s website.

Someone should go to speak out against the allocation of the $152,000 for the Palm Avenue automotive repair center. The Planning Commission clearly stated that they see this as an inappropriate use for this parcel. The city should not spend this money until it’s agreed upon that this will be the land use. I regret that I cannot go.
