From the Contra Costa Times Eye on the East Bay segment (regarding this press release)…

Credit the City of Hercules with trying to put a positive spin on things.

The fitness center at the Hercules Community/Swim Center, which had been available to the community for nearly a decade, officially closed last Wednesday due to “high maintenance cost coupled with liability issues.”

The city titled its online announcement of the closure “Fitness Center Closing Opens New Doors for Recreation” and noted that removal of workout equipment would mean more room for recreation programs, offering a link for residents to sign up for dance, culinary or other classes.
