Times: Hercules City Council gives itself a 5 percent raise

Newcomer Don Kuehne was the only councilmember to vote against the pay raise… “‘In light of our current economic situation, we might want to defer taking action on this matter for another year,’ Kuehne said Tuesday. The council proceeded to vote 4-1 for the raise.“
Kudos to Don Kuehne – I wholeheartedly agree that this action can only be taken to indicate that we have a majoity on city council that is not congnizant and responsive to the needs of the community and the families and individuals struggling now. This pay raise is very ill-timed.
