Working Together on the Waterfront

Editor’s note: Mike submitted this post very, very early this morning, however I was not able to publish (or even read) the post until after the workshop.

The City has provided for us a good opportunity tonight to come together and shape the future of our waterfront town. At 6:30pm we will at long last have a chance to discuss a few important aspects of our transit station.

Outside of this blog, the neighborhood chatrooms and email forums are currently exploding in argumentative discontent with neighbor against neighbor. These quarrels are on topics unrelated to the station. If we remain pitted against one another over petty neighborhood issues, what hope do we have of ever reaching a united vision about the bigger issues, like what our new train and ferry terminal should be? If the waterfront residents can’t all come together, then we have no choice than to just accept the mediocre plan currently being proposed. This would be a great tragedy.

Working Together

Together in common purpose.

Stretching from the bay all the way up to the eastern hills that blend into Franklin Canyon, let us, the people of Hercules, work together in creating an intermodal transit station all can be proud of. Let us unite in the hope that we can bury Safeway Station once and for all.
