Resident Asks Council To Investigate Affordable Housing Agency

Despite heated rhetoric by residents, only one person chose to actually address the City Council on the matter of potential impropriety in the City’s affordable housing agency this past Tuesday evening, who laid out a reasoned and factual, if uninspired, argument…

The City Council was unresponsive to the reasonably presented concern re possible conflicts of interest. They had more important things on their minds like rambling discourses regarding a resident’s storage of a classic car and how they are now senior citizens so something must be done for senior citizens. And oh yes, they enjoyed the ceremony of a new business on Railroad – an accounting business opened by folks long known to Valsted. .With such pressing matters, there is no time to be concerned with such trivialities as corruption, nepotism and cronyism. No wonder nobody goes to council meetings! It appears other solutions must be sought. .
As a long-time resident and employee of the City of Hercules, I would like to thank Mr. Kelly for his insightful comments concerning the controversy surrounding the Affordable Housing Program.
