Times: Hercules commission approves liquor in restaurant

The City had already rezoned the property to allow a full-service restaurant in the restored historic Civic Arts Building, and serve wine and beer; how much more harm can a Red Bull and vodka do at this point… “To have a strong shot at success, an upscale restaurant might have to offer a shot of something stronger than wine or beer, the Hercules Planning Commission agreed this week, as it gave unanimous approval to Sala Restaurant to serve the gamut of alcoholic drinks including distilled spirits.”
I personally enjoyed the commissioners clarify with staff that Champagne — which will apparently be offered during a “Champagne brunch” — was covered by the allowance for wine and beer.
