Primary Day 2010
— by Jeffrey Wisniewski — 8 June 2010 — Comments Off
This post should have been published last night but damned it be the day Comcast has a “general service outage.”
Today is Primary Day, the second best day of the year. The following offices and measures will be decided today, maybe.
Federal
Senator and Representative (District 7).
State
State Assembly (District 11), Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, and Board of Equalization (District 1). Superintendent of Public Instruction (uncontested).
(Some of these probably shouldn’t be elected positions, but that is a discussion for another day, and under another Constitution.)
State Propositions
- 13 – Limits on Property Tax Assessment. Seismic Retrofitting of Existing Buildings
- 14 – Increases Right to Participate in Primary Elections.
- 15 – California Fair Elections Act
- 16 – Imposes New Two-Thirds Voter Approval Requirement for Local Public Electricity Providers (the PG&E thing)
- 17 – Allows Auto Insurance Companies to Base Their Prices in Part on a Driver’s History of Insurance Coverage
County
Assessor, District Attorney, Sherriff-Coroner, Treasurer-Tax Collector, and Superintendent of Schools. Auditor-Controller, Clerk-Recorder (both uncontested).
No County Judicial seats will be on the ballot as all are uncontested. Democracy. And you can vote for the County party committees, as appropriate and as warranted.
Measure D (WCCUSD) – Student Safety / Classroom Repair Bond Measure. (See Times report and some futile commentary.)
