The Others

Planning Commissioner Myrna de Vera is running for City Council. Who else will make the field?

  • Current mayor Kris Valstad will likely run for reelection, which would make it his fourth run for the office (he won in 2000 and 2006, and lost in 2004).
  • The unbelievable word on the street is that Joe Eddy McDonald has decided to run, which is quite incredible considering his open disdain for the job during City Council meetings. (I am as surprised as you are.)
  • Dan Romero has to be running — or else he is wasting a lot of everyone’s time.
  • Bill Kelly has already announced he is not running (in response to a rumor that he was), but that could change with a draft movement if residents find the other candidates wanting.
  • And John Delgado — who barely lost to long-time resident and thoroughly-endorsed Don Kuehne in 2008 — is also a viable candidate. (Note: Wouldn’t everyone take back their vote for Kuehne if they knew how horrible a councilmember he would become? Kuehne has been a disaster.)

Anyone know of any other dark horses?

I vigorously support John Delgado for the City Council. Hercules need “new blood” and an open style at City Hall. The ongoing secrecy must stop.

The most knowledgeable, intelligent, informed and honest person would be none other than Jeff Wisniewski.
Run, Jeff, Run. I believe John Delgado would be a good choice as well.

@anonymous — Thank you, but then who would blog about the Council’s absurdity?
