John Delgado’s Platform

John Delgado has a campaign website as well — similar to Myrna de Vera, but Delgado’s looks like it was built with GeoCities (eep, eep) — and the candidate outlines the critical issues facing Hercules as well as his background as a San Francisco prosecutor.
In order to maintain transparency and accountability, Delgado proposes “an ordinance that will restrict the City from engaging in any transactions that involve a conflict of interest unless the issue is addressed in a Public Forum.” Delgado also declares that “subcommittee meetings will have to be recorded and available for review by the public,” which is similar to an item of de Vera’s platform
Delgado also promises to deliver progress on the Waterfront, if only through improved communication, suggesting that the City Council “add the Waterfront as a standard agenda item at the City Council meetings.” Although this doesn’t go far enough — the only real solution seems to be to remove control of the project from the City Manager — it is a step in the right direction.
Delgado presents a commonsense approach to dealing with the issues facing Hercules, namely transparency and an uninformed Council. it is why I am endorsing John Delgado for City Council.
