It’s 8am, but two of five subcommittee meetings scheduled for todayBusiness Development and Transportation and Housing (you know, the important ones) — do not have agendas available for public viewing. The meetings are scheduled for 10 and 11am respectively.

According to Councilmember Joe Eddy McDonald, City government is open, it is just that no one shows up (direct quote starting at 23:10 mark in roundtable video).

There will also be no minutes recorded.

UPDATE: 9:45am. Both agendas still not available. Meeting starts in 15 minutes.

UPDATE: Noon. The meetings are presumably over. What was discussed? Did the meetings even take place?

    Seriously, WTF?

So much for open and transparent.
Well I guess it’s so transparent you can’t see the agenda unless you have the secret decoder ring.

Less than 2 months to go…..change needs to happen.

Change will happen! First by eliminating all incumbents and then by dismissal of Oliva Clan!

    Pathetic.

If people knew what was on the agenda they might show up! It would also help if meetings were scheduled at times when those who work can attend such as early morning or late in the afternoon. It seems as if Hercules does things in a manner to discourage attendance.

shouldn’t we be organizing now in order to discuss/strategize on what needs to be done in order to change hercules?

Concerned Citizen: First, we should organize a rally to dump the incumbents. We need to wake up the apathetic citizens just like during the anti-Walmart campaign or the Franklin Canyon open space revolt or the Waterfront initiative. The concerned Hercules citizenry forced the city councils during those years to bend to the people’s will. Second, we should attend the council candidates upcoming debates and ask the incumbents the tough questions that they cannot duck and where eventually, they will show their incompetent, know-nothing selves. Third, we should do our best in active support of the two challengers.
