Balico’s Inaugural Address, er, Rant

Mayor Ed Balico’s inaugural remarks indicated he has no plans to change the dynamic of how the city conducts business… his way.

The speech was the basis for my latest Patch column (and yes, I know about the duplicate sentences; I cannot fix it myself).

    Dear Mr. Balico:

For the reasons indicated in Mr. Kelly’s comments at the council meeting of December 14, Mr. Oliva needs to resign.
Notwithstanding the fact that he has done some good things for this city, the city is now too divided over his continued leadership.

As Ms. Hammon has stated, there is turmoil among staff at city hall.
    The city is completely dysfunctional.
Every day there is more bad news being uncovered regarding the city’s finances.
As you know, there is a recall effort underway.

Whatever his merits as a manager, the man cannot lead the city at this juncture.
As others have stated, he has become a lightning rod for controversy.
He has lost the trust of the majority of the citizens of Hercules.

You, Mr. Mayor, should personally request that he tender his resignation, effective immediately.
There are competent individuals who can serve as interim city manager until a permanent manager has been hired.
The decision as to who should serve in the interim should be made by the council as a body.

The reality we are facing is that Mr. Oliva can no longer be effective, and in the interests of the city he must step down.

    Mr. Tang,
Some kind of follow up communication may be needed with the previous email. The City’s email SPAM filters are set pretty high and often times legitimate emails get “filtered” and are never received.

Is there a way to get an email petition going? We could use Mr. Tang’s email as the template.

Okay, I watched the whole thing. I have one question, that I believe Mr. Balico answered. Do stupid people know they’re stupid? Obviously not.

I think it’s time to stop blogging and focus our efforts on ridding the city of the 3 remaining incumbent council persons.

Only then will we the people begin to regain control of the city.

    Who will lead the charge?

Been here 60 tyears – mr. anton Jungherr has already begun the charge. He has authorized me to share his telephone number. It is (510) 799-1141. At the council meeting he began with the first step which is officially announcing and present to the city the intention of Recall. He now needs ten signatures on the next piece of paper that must be processed. He has set up an email addy: HerculesRecall@aol.com. I know there are many not ready to Recall yet. I have decided to throw my hat in. This is a long, difficult process that can be halted at some point if need be. However, it is clear to me from Mr. Balico’s remarks, that he is immediately reversing Mr. Long’s actions, is quite used to telling staff what to do and they do it without a Council resolution or vote, and he is operating privately, behind the scenes in ways that cannot be imagined. Ms. de Vera’s comments were very telling and I could tell it was very difficult for her to yield that “nay” vote. It was a courageous move. If you agree with my point of view, please do contact Mr. Jungherr.

Susan, I know the internet ages you, but ten years? I just went from mid fifties to mid sixties!

I fear I must remain anonymous, as the bane of my existence here in Hercules still serves in a capacity with the City and has made it his/her cause to have the City harass me in many ways for many years.

I will have no problem donating and will without question vote to eradicate the miscreants from our City.

You have provided information that many are interested in.

    Thanks

    In regards t your question:
I have one question, that I believe Mr. Balico answered. Do stupid people know they’re stupid?
As Kurt Vonnegut so aptly said it:
” The big trouble with dumb bastards is that they are too dumb to believe there is such a thing as being smart.”

Been here 50 years! I seem to be making numerical mistakes this evening! Aging anyone an extra ten years is not a good thing! Sorry about that!

I have a hard time even looking at Mr. Balico and not wanting to throw up. Just the very sight of him makes my skin crawl – it is so obvious he is self-centered, greedy. lying, cheating, horribly immoral man. I feel for his wife….
